Prince Edward Island National Park was established in 1937. Though one of the smallest national parks in Canada, the Park protects beach and dune ecosystems critical for Piping Plover. Park staff coordinate Piping Plover conservation and recovery on several beaches within the Park, which includes monitoring, habitat protection, visitor education and engagement, and research.
