Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) shares responsibility for conservation of migratory birds with the other countries they visit. CWS works in collaboration with non-government organizations, Parks Canada Agency, and provincial departments on the Eastern Canada Piping Plover Recovery Team to lead conservation and recovery efforts. CWS is responsible for providing the protocols to guide the conservation and monitoring of Piping Plover, issues permits, compiles monitoring data for the Eastern Canada population, and supports the on-the-ground recovery efforts led by conservation organizations.
